Mechanical Safety Management

Mechanical Safety Management is implemented to ensure that all machines and machinery are regulated and maintained systematically. This is to ensure that its use is safe and does not cause danger and safety risks to staff, students, visitors or contractors when using the equipment at work. In addition it is a requirement of the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 (Act 139).

Among the UniMAP Machines and Machinery that need to be registered and have a Certificate of Qualification (CF) once every fifteen months with the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Department (JKKP) which is subject to the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 (Act 139) involving three categories of types permit and need to go through pre-inspection, testing and commissioning are as follows:

Types of Equipment Requiring Certificates of Qualification

Lifting Machine Permit (PMA)

Refers to traveling cranes moving upwards such as;
Passenger Elevator
Goods Elevator (Dumwaiter)
Maintenance Cage (Gondola)
Electrical Chain Hoist
Overhead Crane

Boiler Machine Permit (PMD)

Any closed container that generates steam at a pressure above atmospheric pressure such as;
Autoclave

Pressure Machine Permit

Closed containers at pressures above atmospheric pressure containing any type of gas or mixture, or combination of gases including containers under liquid or gas pressure or both such as bulk storage tanks, also containers under pressure less than atmospheric pressure but excluding cylinder gases such as;
Water Receiver
Vertical Air Receiver
Air compressor
Vertical Air Compressor
