Roles and Responsibilities of the Mechanical Committee

The roles and responsibilities of the Certified Mechanical Manager 

The roles and responsibilities of the Certified Mechanical Manager based on the Regulations (Notification, Qualification and Inspection) of Factories and Machinery, Factories and Machinery Act 1967 are as follows:

  1. The Certified Mechanical Manager must inform the COSHE officer to renew the CF no later than two (2) months before the CF expires.
  2. Certified Mechanical Managers must ensure that the maintenance of certified machines/machinery is carried out by competent contractors registered with JKKP.
  3. Certified Mechanical Managers must prepare a certified machine/machinery maintenance record book and must be certified by a competent OYK.
  4. The Certified Mechanical Manager must accompany the JKKP and COSHE officers when performing repeated inspections on the machines/machinery involved. Competent contractors must be present during the inspection.
  5. The Certified Mechanical Manager shall keep a copy of the CF and the original copy shall be displayed near the machine/machinery. (CF downloaded from MyKKP system).
  6. The Certified Mechanical Manager must notify COSHE in writing for the application for postponement of machine/machinery re-inspection no later than three (3) months before CF ends.
  7. The Certified Mechanical Manager must ensure that the postponement application is consistent with the time period that has been set in this procedure.
  8. The Certified Mechanical Manager must ensure that the machine/machinery is maintained and in good condition and safe to operate.
  9. The Certified Mechanical Manager must ensure that all supporting documents required when making a deferment application are complete and easy to read.
  10. The Certified Mechanical Manager must ensure that notices prohibiting the use / stoppage of operation are posted on the machines/machinery involved.
